Plastering Courses
The Building Experience plastering package offers our customers the chance to learn to plaster in their own home.
If your whole house needs a re-plastering, you have a new extension or perhaps just one room needs skimming and you fancy having a go yourself but don’t have the skills, we will teach you and improve your own property at the same time.
Each client gets a service based on their individual requirements but generally two of our plasterers or a plasterer and a labourer will be on hand to guide you through the process.
Background Preparation
Whatever the surface, be it bare blockwork, studwork, plasterboard or old plasterwork, we will teach you that preparation is the key to good plastering. You will learn how to control excessive suction, ensure a good bond to low-suction surfaces and apply undercoats.
Mixing and Application
You will learn how to mix plaster to the correct consistency and get at least some of it on the wall! Handling of the trowel and hawk, and applying to the correct thickness will be shown to you but at all times you will have a chance to have a go yourself as the only way to learn is to get involved. We will make sure the finish is not compromised while you practise.
Finishing
Learn how to get a smooth finish to your plasterwork so you can confidently proceed with your next project.
What you will Need
Bags of enthusiasm, some old clothes and a room that you want to plaster.
The Package
Each client will receive a site visit before a free no obligation quotation provided.
Prices are typically from £250 per day plus materials. For this you will receive the full attention of The Building Experience plasterers, and the labouring done for you so you can concentrate on learning.
Plastering Starter Pack
For an additional £100 we will provide a plastering starter pack. This will include a 13” Marshaltown trowel, mini trowel, bucket trowel mixing bucket and paddle, Brush and sponge. All you need to be on your way is a power drill and a bucket of water!
